The Cause Of The Explosion In The German Headquarters Of The Chemical Giant BASF Group

The global industrial leader, the German BASF Group, stated on October 17 local time that the chemical plant at its headquarters in the western German city of Ludwigshafen exploded on the same day. It is known that 1 person was killed, 6 people were missing and 6 people were injured.

BASF stated in the statement that the explosion occurred at about 11:30 in the morning and was caused by the handling of an oil pipeline. The group announced earlier that several people were injured and some people were missing. From the photos taken, we can see that there is a raging fire on the scene, and thick yans continue to burst out.

The Ludwigshafen authorities stated in the statement that emergency rescue units throughout the region were in place to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the factory.

BASF reminded that residents near Ludwigshafen and Manhai should stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed. Local authorities also ordered nurseries and schools not to allow children to stay outdoors. However, the company subsequently stated that the explosion would not cause harm to nearby residents.
